Melonex and Viagra: Why Your Doctor Wants to Know
Melonex and Viagra raise one question: blood pressure. Viagra is a brand of sildenafil, a PDE-5 drug. Mayo Clinic and WebMD both flag arginine and citrulline as able to lower pressure too far beside these drugs. No trial tested Melonex with them, so tell your prescriber about both before you start.

01The question
Why ask about Melonex and Viagra together?
Doctors ask about Melonex and Viagra together because both can lower blood pressure, and the two effects can stack.
Viagra is the brand name for sildenafil, one of the PDE-5 inhibitors. Others include tadalafil, vardenafil and avanafil (WebMD, L-citrulline).
The Melonex label lists a 500 mg blend of L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine AKG and L-arginine HCL. Both amino acids are studied for blood pressure, at grams a day.
WebMD says L-citrulline may interact with PDE-5 drugs and that the interactions are not fully understood (WebMD, L-citrulline). Mayo Clinic lists sildenafil among the drugs where L-arginine may drop pressure too low (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
No trial tested Melonex with sildenafil. That gap is the reason for the question. The who should take Melonex fit check lists it first.
02The sources
What do the health sources say about the pair?
Three sources speak to the pair, and none of them calls it safe.
| Source | On the pair |
|---|---|
| Mayo Clinic, L-arginine | Pressure may drop too low with sildenafil, nitrates and blood pressure drugs |
| WebMD, L-citrulline | May interact with PDE-5 drugs; not fully understood |
| MedlinePlus, sildenafil | Do not take with nitrates; report dizziness or lightheadedness |
The MedlinePlus point matters most for chest pain medicine. Some medicines should not be taken with sildenafil, including nitroglycerin and isosorbide (MedlinePlus, Sildenafil). The Melonex and nitroglycerin post covers that side: nitrates and Melonex.
MedlinePlus also tells you to tell your doctor and pharmacist about every prescription and nonprescription product (MedlinePlus, Sildenafil). A supplement counts.
03The dose
Does the small dose in a capsule matter here?
The small dose lowers the odds of a big effect from the blend, but it does not clear the pair.
The studied range is grams: 3 to 9 g a day of L-citrulline and 4 to 24 g of L-arginine in blood pressure trials (Avicenna J Phytomed 2019, L-citrulline and BP meta-analysis) (Am Heart J 2011, L-arginine and BP meta-analysis). One capsule holds at most 500 mg of citrulline DL-malate, 250 mg of arginine AKG and 167 mg of arginine HCl.
At two capsules those ceilings double. Even then the blend is 1,000 mg in all. Ceilings are limits from label rules, not amounts, and the real split is not printed.
L-citrulline DL-malate
≤500 mgplace 1 of 3One capsule's ceiling is 17% of the low end of the studied dose. (Avicenna J Phytomed 2019, L-citrulline and BP meta-analysis)
Both arginine lines together

Coral bars: the most one capsule (and the 2-capsule label maximum) can hold, from the label order (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). Real amounts are not printed and are likely lower. Teal bars: daily amounts used in studies; the pale extension shows a range. The weights on the label include the malate, alpha-ketoglutarate and HCl parts, so the pure amino acid is less again.
Interactions are not only about dose. Individual response differs, and nothing tested this product. That is why the call goes to your prescriber. See also supplements and heart medicines.
04Tell your doctor
What should you tell your doctor or pharmacist?
Tell them four things: the drug and dose, the Melonex label, how many capsules you plan to take, and any dizziness you have had.
Bring the label
Show the Supplement Facts panel, not just the name.
Say how often you use the drug
Daily, as needed, or rarely.
Name your other pills
Especially nitrates and blood pressure drugs.
Agree on a signal
Know which symptoms mean you call.
Low pressure is a reading under 90/60, with dizziness, fainting or blurred vision. Our side effects and interactions page lists more.
Do not stop or change any prescription to start Melonex. Chest pain or faintness is a reason to get medical help.
05Next steps
How do you move forward?
Move forward only after the doctor conversation; the order can wait a day.
Read Melonex and lisinopril for the potassium side. The 3-bottle pack is $207 and the 6-bottle pack is $294, per the seller's materials. Refunds need 30+ days of use, sealed bottles and a 20% restocking fee. Confirm at checkout.

Prices listed on the seller's order page; confirm at checkout. The 2-bottle kit costs $158, with $9.99 shipping. Ask your doctor about your medicines first. 60-day money-back guarantee per the seller.
Melonex is not a treatment; it is a dietary supplement. Ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take blood-pressure medicine, nitrates for chest pain, an erectile-dysfunction drug such as sildenafil or tadalafil, a potassium-sparing diuretic (amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene), a blood thinner, or diabetes medicine, or if you have had a recent heart attack. Arginine and citrulline can add to these. Keep taking prescribed medicine. See side effects and interactions.
06FAQ
Melonex questions people ask
Is Viagra the same as Melonex?
No. Viagra is a brand of sildenafil, a prescription drug. Melonex is a dietary supplement capsule with a 500 mg blend of three amino-acid lines. The label makes no claim about sexual function and no drug is listed.
Can I take Melonex if I use sildenafil?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Mayo Clinic and WebMD both warn that arginine and citrulline may lower blood pressure too far beside sildenafil. No trial tested Melonex with it, so nobody can call the pair safe.
Does Melonex work like Viagra?
No claim like that is made on the label, and we do not make one. Melonex is a supplement and the label says it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
What if I use tadalafil instead of Viagra?
Ask the same questions. WebMD lists sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil and avanafil together as PDE-5 drugs that may interact with L-citrulline. Show your prescriber the Melonex label before you start.
