Ingredient profile
Melonex Capsule Ingredients: Shell, Filler and Flow Aid
The Melonex capsule ingredients are three: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (the vegetable capsule shell), microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate. They sit outside the 500 mg blend of citrulline and arginine. The label prints no amount for any of them, so treat them as helpers, not as active ingredients.

01The list
What are the other ingredients in Melonex?
The label's other-ingredients line names three items: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate.
The first is the capsule itself. The other two are powder helpers that go in with the blend. None is listed as an active ingredient, and none has a printed weight.
The Supplement Facts box covers the 500 mg blend. This line covers everything else the capsule needs to be a capsule you can fill, swallow and store.
| Ingredient | Role | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose | Vegetable capsule shell, a plant-cellulose material | Not printed |
| Microcrystalline cellulose | Plant-fiber filler that bulks out the powder | Not printed |
| Magnesium stearate | Flow aid so powder does not stick to machines | Not printed |
02The shell
What is a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose capsule?
A hydroxypropyl methylcellulose capsule, called HPMC, is a shell made from plant cellulose. It is the usual alternative to an animal-gelatin shell.
HPMC is why the brief and the label call Melonex a vegetable capsule. It holds the powder and dissolves in the gut after you swallow it with the 8 oz of water the label asks for.
The label does not say vegan, gluten free or allergen free, and we do not add those words. Anyone with an allergy should ask the distributor on the label for details.
The shell is the reason this product is a capsule only. There is no Melonex gummy, drop or powder on this label.
Drawing, not data: an even split shown for scale. The label prints only the 500 mg total.
- L-citrulline DL-malateeven split ~167 mg · ceiling ≤500 mg
- L-arginine AKGeven split ~167 mg · ceiling ≤250 mg
- L-arginine HCleven split ~167 mg · ceiling ≤167 mg
Also in the capsule (no amounts printed)
- Hydroxypropyl methylcelluloseThe vegetable capsule shell (a plant-cellulose material)
- Microcrystalline celluloseA plant-fiber filler that bulks out the powder
- Magnesium stearateA flow aid that stops powder sticking to machines
03The filler
What is microcrystalline cellulose in a capsule?
Microcrystalline cellulose is a fine plant-fiber powder. Makers add it so a small dose of active powder fills a whole capsule evenly.
The math shows why. The blend weighs 500 mg and the capsule is built to hold a set volume. Filler takes up the slack and keeps each capsule alike.
The label prints no weight for the filler. So you cannot tell whether a capsule holds 500 mg of blend and little else, or the blend plus a good share of cellulose. The 500 mg blend figure is fixed; the rest is not.
- The filler is not part of the 500 mg blend
- It adds no citrulline or arginine
- It is listed after the shell, so read it as a helper
04The flow aid
Why does Melonex contain magnesium stearate?
Magnesium stearate is a flow aid. It coats powder so it slides through filling machines and does not cake on the equipment.
It is a common line in capsule and pill supplements. On the Melonex label it comes last, which on a short list usually means the smallest share.
Magnesium stearate is not the magnesium mineral people take for sleep or cramps, and no one should count it as a mineral dose. The label makes no mineral claim.
The label says the product was made in an FDA registered facility. Registration is not approval (FDA, Is it really FDA approved?). Federal rules on good manufacturing practice apply to every maker, and a GMP badge does not say who audited the plant (21 CFR Part 111 (CGMP)).
05The split
How do the other ingredients relate to the 500 mg blend?
They are separate. The 500 mg covers only L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine AKG and L-arginine HCl, listed by weight.
A proprietary blend shows its total and its order, not each amount (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). The citrulline line can weigh at most 500 mg, the AKG line at most 250 mg and the HCl line at most 167 mg.
The capsule shell and the two helpers are outside that total. So a full capsule weighs more than 500 mg, and the label does not say by how much.
| Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose | The vegetable capsule shell (a plant-cellulose material) |
|---|---|
| Microcrystalline cellulose | A plant-fiber filler that bulks out the powder |
| Magnesium stearate | A flow aid that stops powder sticking to machines |
| Amounts | Not printed; these are not part of the 500 mg blend |
| Allergen line | None printed on the label |
06Safety
Are the capsule ingredients a concern?
For most adults these three are everyday helpers. The real cautions on this label come from the amino acids, not the shell.
Supplements can interact with medicines, and natural origin does not mean safe (NIH ODS, What you need to know). That point applies to the blend, not to cellulose.
Ask your pharmacist if you have a known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredient, or if you take drugs for blood pressure, a nitrate or an erectile-dysfunction pill. Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed.
Store the bottle as printed: away from heat, light and humidity, in a cool, dry place. Do not use it if the safety seal is damaged or missing.

Where do you read about the active ingredients?
The three active lines each have a profile, and a side-by-side comparison covers the two amino acids.
Start with L-citrulline DL-malate, then L-arginine AKG and L-arginine HCl. The whole capsule is laid out on what is in one capsule.
08FAQ
Capsule and filler questions
What is the capsule in Melonex made of?
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a plant-cellulose material, according to the label's other-ingredients line. It is sold as a vegetable capsule. The label does not use the word vegan, so ask the distributor if that matters to you.
Is magnesium stearate in Melonex safe?
It is a common flow aid in supplements, and the label lists it last. No amount is printed. If you have an allergy or a health condition, ask your pharmacist, as the label itself advises.
Are the other ingredients included in the 500 mg?
No. The 500 mg is the proprietary blend of three amino-acid lines. The shell, cellulose and stearate are extra, and their weights are not printed.
Can you open a Melonex capsule?
The label gives no instruction to open it. It says to take one capsule daily with an 8 oz glass of water. Swallow it whole as directed.
Does Melonex contain fillers?
Yes. Microcrystalline cellulose is a filler, a plant-fiber powder. It sits outside the blend and has no printed amount.
Is the Melonex capsule gluten free or allergen free?
The label does not say. It prints no allergen or gluten statement, so we cannot confirm either. Ask the distributor listed on the label before use if this matters to you.
