Melonex Ingredients: The Full List, Line by Line

Quick answer

The Melonex ingredients list has six lines. Three are in a 500 mg proprietary blend: L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine AKG and L-arginine HCl. Three are helpers: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate. Single amounts are not printed. Studies used grams, and no trial has tested Melonex.

01The list

What is the Melonex ingredients list?

The Melonex ingredients list names three active lines and three other ingredients. Nothing else is printed.

The active lines sit in a blend that weighs 500 mg per capsule. The label order is L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine (alpha-ketoglutarate dihydrate) and L-arginine HCL. That order is by weight, most to least (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)).

The other ingredients are hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (the capsule), microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate. No herb, vitamin, mineral or fruit extract is listed.

02The formula

What is the Melonex formula, and how is it split?

The Melonex formula is a 500 mg blend with no single amounts, so the label order sets a ceiling for each line.

04Plain words

What are citrulline and arginine?

Citrulline and arginine are amino acids, the building blocks of protein. The body can turn citrulline into arginine.

The label pairs each one with a partner: malate for citrulline, alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) for one arginine and hydrochloride (HCl) for the other. NIH says citrulline malate is about 57% citrulline by weight (NIH ODS, Supplements for Exercise). Melonex prints no ratio.

Two of the three lines are arginine in different forms. That is why the pair is summed in the ceiling math.

  • Malate and AKG are Krebs-cycle compounds
  • HCl means the arginine is a hydrochloride salt
  • Each partner adds weight, so the amino acid is less than the line

05Dose vs research

How do Melonex ingredient amounts compare with studies?

Studies used grams a day. One capsule's ceilings are in milligrams, far below the low end of each study range.

L-citrulline lowered systolic pressure by about 4 mm Hg in 8 small trials at 3-9 g a day (Avicenna J Phytomed 2019, L-citrulline and BP meta-analysis). L-arginine did so by about 5 mm Hg in 11 small trials at 4-24 g a day (Am Heart J 2011, L-arginine and BP meta-analysis). A 3,000 mg dose of AAKG did nothing for strength in 16 men (J Int Soc Sports Nutr 2012, AAKG).

Coral bars: the most one capsule (and the 2-capsule label maximum) can hold, from the label order (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). Real amounts are not printed and are likely lower. Teal bars: daily amounts used in studies; the pale extension shows a range. The weights on the label include the malate, alpha-ketoglutarate and HCl parts, so the pure amino acid is less again.

Even two capsules, the label maximum, stay under every bar. No trial tested Melonex.

06Safety notes

Are Melonex ingredients safe with medicines?

Ask a pharmacist first if you take blood-pressure drugs, nitrates or erectile-dysfunction drugs. Arginine and citrulline can add to them.

Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed. The label asks pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known condition to consult a physician. The full list is on side effects and interactions.

08FAQ

Ingredient questions

What are the ingredients in Melonex?

Three blend lines: L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate and L-arginine HCl. Three helpers: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate. The blend weighs 500 mg per capsule, with no single amounts printed.

Does Melonex list any herbs or vitamins?

No. The label lists no herb, vitamin, mineral or fruit extract. Only the two amino acids in three forms sit in the blend, and the other ingredients are a cellulose capsule, a filler and a flow aid.

Which Melonex ingredient is there most of?

L-citrulline DL-malate, because blends list ingredients by descending weight (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). It can weigh at most 500 mg, but the actual amount is not printed. The second and third lines are capped at 250 and 167 mg.

Is the Melonex formula the same as other citrulline supplements?

Not necessarily. Without single amounts, the Melonex formula cannot be matched to any other product's dose. Compare milligrams of each amino acid when a label prints them; this one prints only the 500 mg total.

Does Melonex have artificial ingredients?

The label lists no dye, sweetener or flavor. It does list magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose as helpers. The label uses the words "Natural Formula*", which carries a star tied to the FDA statement.

Where do the Melonex ingredients come from?

The label says "Made in the USA with globally sourced ingredients". The countries are not named, and the manufacturer is not named either. The label does name a distributor, Instituto Experience of Lakeland, Florida.
