Heart Health Supplement Powder or Capsule? The Dose Math
A heart health supplement powder is a loose mix measured by the scoop, often in grams. Melonex is not one. It is a capsule with a 500 mg blend, and the label allows two capsules a day at most. To reach a 3 g citrulline trial dose from capsules, you would need six, which the label does not permit.

01Powder vs capsule
Is there a heart health supplement powder from Melonex?
No. Melonex comes only as a vegetable capsule, 60 to a bottle.
The label lists "60 CAPSULES" and the shell as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. It prints no powder, scoop, drink mix, gummy or drop.
People search for a heart health supplement powder because powders feel easier to dose. A scoop can hold several grams. A capsule shell caps out far lower.
That size gap is the whole story of this post. Form decides how many milligrams you can swallow in a day.
02Capsule limits
How much can one Melonex capsule hold?
One capsule holds a 500 mg blend, shared by three ingredients, so no single line can weigh more than 500 mg.
The law lists blend ingredients from heaviest to lightest (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). Place 1 can hold at most 500 mg, place 2 at most 250 mg, place 3 at most 167 mg.
Those are ceilings, not amounts. The label does not print single doses. If split evenly, each would come to about 167 mg.
Research on these amino acids uses grams. The bars compare the two scales.
L-citrulline DL-malate
≤500 mgplace 1 of 3One capsule's ceiling is 17% of the low end of the studied dose. (Avicenna J Phytomed 2019, L-citrulline and BP meta-analysis)
Both arginine lines together
≤333 mglines 2 and 3 togetherOne capsule's ceiling is 8% of the low end of the studied dose. (Am Heart J 2011, L-arginine and BP meta-analysis)
L-arginine AKG
≤250 mgplace 2 of 3One capsule's ceiling is 8% of the low end of the studied dose. (J Int Soc Sports Nutr 2012, AAKG)
Coral bars: the most one capsule (and the 2-capsule label maximum) can hold, from the label order (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). Real amounts are not printed and are likely lower. Teal bars: daily amounts used in studies; the pale extension shows a range. The weights on the label include the malate, alpha-ketoglutarate and HCl parts, so the pure amino acid is less again.
Two capsules a day double every ceiling. They still sit below the low end of each study range.
03Worked example
How many capsules would a trial dose take?
A 3 g citrulline trial dose would take at least six Melonex capsules, even if the citrulline line were at its 500 mg ceiling.
Divide the study dose by the ceiling. That gives the fewest capsules that could reach it.
| Line | Study dose | Ceiling per capsule | Capsules needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citrulline DL-malate | 3,000 mg a day (Avicenna J Phytomed 2019, L-citrulline and BP meta-analysis) | 500 mg | 6 |
| Both arginine lines | 4,000 mg a day (Am Heart J 2011, L-arginine and BP meta-analysis) | 333 mg | 12 |
| Label maximum | - | - | 2 |
The citrulline figure is also a malate weight. NIH notes citrulline malate is about 57% citrulline (NIH ODS, Supplements for Exercise). If Melonex follows that ratio, 500 mg of malate holds roughly 283 mg of citrulline.
The label says do not exceed the recommended dose. Ask your doctor before changing how you take any supplement.
04Trade-offs
Which form suits a heart-habit routine better?
A capsule suits a fixed daily routine; a powder suits someone who wants to choose a dose, and its label still has to show what is in it.
Capsule
- Fixed unit: one swallow with 8 oz of water
- No scoop to level or mix
- 60 days from a 60-count bottle
Capsule
- Small ceiling per unit
- Blend hides single amounts
- Two-a-day cap on the label
A powder moves the guesswork to your spoon. The same blend rule applies to powders (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)), so a powder can hide amounts too. Read the facts panel before you compare forms, and see the one-capsule breakdown for this label.
05If the capsule fits
Where do you buy the Melonex capsule?
Melonex is sold through the seller's order page, at $79, $69 or $49 a bottle depending on pack size.
The 3-bottle pack is $207 and the 6-bottle pack is $294, both with free shipping per the order page. Confirm at checkout.
Check how it fits your medicines first. Keep taking prescribed medicine and tell your doctor about any supplement, as the ingredient pages explain.

Prices listed on the seller's order page; confirm at checkout. The 2-bottle kit costs $158, with $9.99 shipping. Ask your doctor about your medicines first. 60-day money-back guarantee per the seller.
Melonex is not a treatment; it is a dietary supplement. Ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take blood-pressure medicine, nitrates for chest pain, an erectile-dysfunction drug such as sildenafil or tadalafil, a potassium-sparing diuretic (amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene), a blood thinner, or diabetes medicine, or if you have had a recent heart attack. Arginine and citrulline can add to these. Keep taking prescribed medicine. See side effects and interactions.
06FAQ
Melonex questions people ask
Is Melonex available as a powder or drink mix?
No. Melonex is sold only as a vegetable capsule, 60 to a bottle. The label prints no powder, scoop or drink mix. Products with similar names sold elsewhere are different items, so match the name to the label before you buy.
Does a powder deliver more than a capsule?
It can hold more per serving, because a scoop is measured in grams while one Melonex capsule holds a 500 mg blend. A bigger amount is not proof of a benefit. Check the facts panel for single amounts.
What does a proprietary blend hide in a powder?
It hides each ingredient's weight. The label shows a total and lists parts from heaviest to lightest (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). You learn the order, not the dose, so you cannot compare one powder with another by grams.
Is a powder safer than a capsule with my medicines?
No form is safer by itself. Interactions follow the ingredients, not the shape. Arginine and citrulline can add to blood-pressure drugs, nitrates and some erectile-dysfunction drugs (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Ask your pharmacist before you start either form.
